UNIFORM MILITIA OTHER RANKS CHANGE TO NEW PATTERN
Military Board approval has been given to introduce a single pattern uniform suitable for peace and active service conditions for all units and services.
In order to cope with the difficulties of rapid production under the proposed scheme to increase the Militia Forces to 70,000 all ranks, it is necessary to adopt a system of gradual transition in supply to units.
The following principles will be followed in effecting the change and in supplying the additional requirements amongst the various arms.
1. Heavy Artillery and Fortress Engineers - to continue with the present type of uniforms.
2. Present stocks - stocks of the present type of uniforms in Ordnance Depots and unit stores will be issued under present scales until depleted.
3. Leggings - in the event of delay in supply, preference in issue will be given to Light Horse and Field Artillery, other mounted units and mounted personnel of dismounted units, may, as a temporary measure, be issued with puttees.
Caps FS blue - the new pattern FS Cap - piping of which is scarlet - is intended for issue to all arms except Heavy Artillery and Fortress Engineers.
Puggarees, hat, khaki, with colour fold - as at present, for issue to all arms.
Breeches woollen MS - breeches will be issued to the various arms as at present.
Jackets Militia khaki - the new pattern jacket, with scarlet piping on cuffs and shoulder straps is for issue to all arms except Heavy Artillery and Fortress Engineers.
Patches Collar - patches of various coloured cloth to denote the various arms, as hereunder, will be issued, and sewn on the collar of the jacket under regimental arrangements.

Regimental badges - will superimpose the collar patch.
Trousers Militia khaki - will be issued to Armoured Car Regts, Infantry (1 MD) and Tank Corps only, the piping and stripes will be as provided as at present.
Amendments - to Standing Orders for Clothing Part H to incorporate the above will be promulgated in due course, and may be anticipated.
